Various Current Issues have been discussed at a Special Meeting of the Members of the Notary Chamber

The Board of the Notary Chamber introduced the new legislative changes to the notaries at the special meeting of the Members of the Notary Chamber of Georgia. There are number of changes in law related to the notary acts certified via direct means of electronic communication (Skype). By a new edition, the notary establishes the identity of notary act participant natural person, including a notary act performed via means of electronic communication, by submitted identity document. At the same time it is permitted to identify the citizens of Georgia or foreigners residing in Georgia by using the data of Public Services Development Agency. In addition, if the notary act is performed by means of electronic communication, the notary shall be obliged to additionally use the ID data of the electronic database. Besides, it’s permitted to certify the power of attorney by using the electronic communication if there is a direct visual contact between the issuer of the power of attorney and the notary. In this case, it is mandatory to record the notary act by using the video file.
